why buy scar fx?

The International Advisory Panel on Scar Management recommends the use of Silicone Gel
Sheeting in the management of scars, based on a review of over 300 publications. The Panel
states that silicone gel sheeting has been a widely used clinical management option for hypertrophic
and keloid scars since the early 1980s, that there is now good evidence of its efficacy and it
has now become standard care for plastic surgeons.
Results from at least eight randomised, controlled trials and a meta-study of 27
trials demonstrate that silicone gel sheeting is a safe and effective management option
for hypertrophic and keloid scars. It is therefore recommended as first line therapy for
linear (surgical/traumatic) scars.
Most researchers believe that silicone acts by creating a hydrated, occluded
environment that decreases blood capillary activity, thereby reducing collagen
production and scar hypertrophy. This in turn leads to wound flattening.

how to apply?
|
|
Apply to clean dry scar after peeling the plastic protective sheeting from both sides of the silicone.
Place the sticky side against your scar. It may be necessary to hold Scar Fx in place
with hypoallergenic tape to assure correct placement of Scar Fx. Apply only after the skin has completely healed and must not be used
on open or weeping areas. Scar Fx should be a suitable size to cover the scar, allowing an overlapping edge of ½ centimetre.
Scar Fx should be applied 8-12 hours daily. When Scar Fx Silicone Sheeting becomes less sticky, you may need to secure it in
place with hypoallergenic tape or suitable type of wrap.
